About

Useful first, charming second.

SleepyHero is a sleep-niche reference site for adults navigating their own sleep and parents navigating their kids'. Eight clinician-vetted tools, honest gear reviews, and a parent zone reviewed by a credentialed pediatric sleep consultant. The promise is in the order of those words: useful first, charming second.

What we make

Three things, in this order. Tools are the front door — calculators, generators, and quizzes that answer a specific question (when should I go to bed, how late can I have coffee, what schedule should my baby be on). Each tool runs on a transparent algorithm with the methodology documented on the page. Reviews are honest verdicts on sleep gear, scored across consistent dimensions (accuracy, comfort, value, etc.) with affiliate disclosure baked into the page. Parent zone is editorial guidance for parents navigating sleep through newborn, infant, toddler, and preschool — reviewed by Marie Hansen, PSC, with the goal of giving you the summary a sleep consultant would, without the consultation fee.

Editorial standards

Every tool has a published methodology. Every review has a documented scoring rubric and a clear note on whether the verdict is a synthesis of public research or based on hands-on testing. Every parent-zone article is reviewed by Marie Hansen, PSC before it ships to the public production site.

We separate built from shipped. A page can be built (URL live, content available) before it is shipped (reviewer signoff complete, hands-on testing complete). When that gap exists, you'll see a "review pending" or "hands-on pending" badge on the page. We surface this rather than hiding it.

Banned-words list: we don't say "unlock," "boost," "supercharge," "game-changer," or "revolutionary." Sleep is too consequential for marketing language.

Reviewers

Dr. Logan Foley, CSSC — Clinical Sleep Science Coach, primary reviewer for adult-sleep tools and reviews. Reviewer credit appears on every page Foley has signed off on.

Marie Hansen, PSC — Pediatric Sleep Consultant, primary reviewer for parent-zone content and any tool serving the 0-5 age range (wake windows, baby sleep schedule).

Reviewer credit on a page indicates content review, not endorsement of any specific product. Affiliate revenue does not influence review scores.

How we make money

Three revenue streams, in order of size:

  1. Affiliate commissions on gear we recommend. Disclosed on every review page. Programs include Oura, Whoop, Eight Sleep, Saatva, Hatch, Loftie, Nanit, and others. See the affiliate disclosure for the full list.
  2. The SleepyHero toolkit — a $19 PDF bundle of the tools' downloadable companions (printable schedules, age charts, wind-down routines). One-time purchase, no subscription.
  3. Newsletter sponsorships — relevant brands only, disclosed in the email. Independent reviews never run sponsored.

We do not sell user data. We don't run pop-up ads. We don't run interstitials. The newsletter is the only outbound, and you can unsubscribe in one click.
