Normally availability is a footnote. Here it is the comparison, because both of these beds are leaving the market and one of them has already gone.

Emma has withdrawn from the United States. Sleep Foundation's Emma review states that as of January 2025 Emma mattresses are sold exclusively in Canada and are no longer available to US customers. Emma's own US site carries a "THANK YOU U.S!" banner, its sale page is titled "Emma Clearance! ALL Mattresses 60% OFF!", and its collections page says only Twin and King sizes remain on the clearance hybrid. The product pages for the Emma Original Hybrid and the Emma Hybrid Comfort both 404 to the homepage. SleepAdvisor marks the Emma Hybrid Comfort discontinued. There is, in other words, no live US listing to read a price, a height or a trial length from — and no queen, which is the size this comparison is about.

Casper is discontinued but not gone. As of July 2026, casper.com redirects the Original Hybrid to the Casper Dream Hybrid, GoodBed lists the Original among Casper's discontinued models, and Casper's own upgrade guidance tells Original Hybrid owners to move to the Dream. What remains is Amazon stock: ASIN B085H9FBBP, $1,495, listed as limited quantity. You can put a queen in a cart today and know exactly what you will pay.

That is the whole of Casper's advantage on this page and we would rather state it that way than dress it up. It is not a better mattress by a wide margin — it is the one that still exists in the size you want, from a seller with a returns process, at a number we can verify.

The Casper Original Hybrid queen is **$1,495** on Amazon, verified on 27 July 2026, held flat across four months of our price checks. Casper no longer sells the model itself, so Amazon is the only channel, and there is no subscription — $1,495 is also the three-year total.

For the Emma Hybrid we have no US price, and we are not going to print one — not even the figure our own data used to carry, which could not be confirmed on any live US Emma page and appears to have come from an EU listing, where the model is sold under a different name. Any Emma price you see quoted anywhere — here, on a comparison site, in a cached search result — needs to be confirmed at the seller before you plan around it, and confirmed alongside whether your size exists at all.

This has a knock-on effect worth flagging honestly, because it is our own data being self-critical. Our scoring gives Emma a value score of 8/10 against Casper's 7.5/10. That Emma figure was calculated against the old, unverifiable price. Treat it as stale rather than as evidence that Emma is the better buy — a value score computed from a number nobody publishes any more is not a number you should spend money on.

Two hybrids, both foam over individually-wrapped coils, half a point apart on firmness — and aiming at slightly different sleepers with that half point.

Emma is a 5.5/10 true medium, built around its own Airgocell foam, which the company engineers to breathe better than standard memory foam, over a pocketed coil unit. It is the softer surface of the two and Emma's product data targets side and back sleepers. Casper is a 6/10 medium with AirScape perforated foam over pocketed coils, and its distinguishing feature is not the firmness number but the zoning: the comfort layer is deliberately firmer under the hips and softer under the shoulders. Casper describes the result as pressure relief without the full memory-foam sink and targets side sleepers in the 130-200 lb band.

We call this a tie on feel because the choice is a preference rather than a quality ranking, and because one side of the comparison has an asterisk we cannot remove. Emma's build is genuinely well-regarded — it is a large European manufacturer with its own foam engineering and a long award record from European consumer associations, not a white-label product. But we could not verify the mattress's height from any live US page. The 10″ figure we used to carry matches no current US Emma model (Sleep Foundation measures the all-foam Emma Original at 11″, MattressClarity puts the Emma Hybrid Comfort at 13″) and most likely came from the 25 cm EU listing. Height changes how a bed feels under a heavier sleeper, so that gap matters more than it looks.

Casper takes both legs in our scoring, narrowly: support 8.5/10 against Emma's 8, and edge support 8/10 against 7.5. Neither margin is dramatic, and two hybrids built to a similar brief behaving similarly under load is the expected result rather than a surprise.

The edge score is the one with practical consequences. It decides whether you can sit on the side of the bed to put shoes on without the perimeter caving, and whether two adults can use the full width of a queen rather than the middle two-thirds of it. Emma's own product notes are candid here — softer edges than premium hybrids is listed among its drawbacks — so half a point in Casper's favour is consistent with what Emma says about itself. Casper's 8/10 is good rather than exceptional; a true innerspring with a reinforced perimeter beats both.

On support, the more useful distinction is shape rather than strength. Casper's zoned layer redistributes support along the body instead of applying it evenly, which is a design aimed at spinal alignment for side sleepers. Emma applies support uniformly and relies on the coil unit underneath. For a sleeper with a pronounced shoulder-to-waist difference, the zoning is worth more than the 0.5-point gap suggests. For everyone else, these two are close enough that the decision should be made on availability instead — which is not a tie.

Emma's one clear win: motion isolation 8/10 against Casper's 7.5/10 in our scoring. If your partner gets up at 5am, works shifts, or simply rolls over a lot, Emma is marginally the quieter bed of the two.

Be realistic about the size of that. Both beds use individually-wrapped coils, which already contain movement far better than a connected innerspring, and half a point between two hybrids is not the difference between being woken and sleeping through. If a restless partner is genuinely your main problem, an all-foam mattress is the category answer — the Nectar Premier scores 9.5/10 on this dimension at $999 from a live US product line, which is a more useful recommendation than either bed on this page.

The availability caveat applies to this win as it applies to everything else on Emma's side. A 0.5-point advantage in motion isolation is not a reason to hunt clearance stock in a size that may not exist, from a brand that no longer sells to US customers, at a price you cannot confirm in advance. If you are in Canada, where Emma still trades, this row reads differently and the win is worth acting on.

Level at 7.5/10 each in our scoring, and the tie is genuine rather than a dodge. Both are hybrids, which is itself the main cooling mechanism: air moves through a pocketed coil unit in a way it cannot move through a solid foam core.

Above the coils they take different routes to the same score. Casper uses AirScape foam, perforated so it vents better than solid memory foam. Emma uses Airgocell, its own open-structure foam engineered to breathe better than standard memory foam. Both are passive approaches — reducing how much heat the comfort layer traps, rather than removing heat from the bed.

Casper's own listing is the harshest assessment of either: "Cooling is average — hot sleepers look elsewhere" is the first item in its con list, and at 7.5/10 the same judgement applies to Emma. We have not put either mattress in front of a thermal camera and we will not quote you a temperature difference. If waking up hot is the specific problem you are trying to solve, neither of these is the answer and no amount of scorecard reading will change that — a bed built around cooling, or an active climate cover, is a different category and a different budget.

On paper the warranties are identical: 10 years each. Emma's is verified on emma-sleep.com and corroborated by Sleep Foundation and NapLab; Casper's is on the Amazon listing. Neither is generous by the standards of this price band, where Forever Warranties are now common.

The trials are not comparable, because only one is knowable. Casper's is 100 nights, with the industry-standard 30-night minimum before a return can begin — call it 70 usable nights of decision time, which is short of a seasonal change and a real drawback on a bed whose own page admits average cooling. Emma's trial length we are recording as unverified rather than repeating a figure: Emma's US site contradicted itself, showing a 365-night trial in the header banner and a 100-night trial in the body of the same page, and third-party sources split the same way (Sleep Foundation reports 365, NapLab reports 100). Confirm it at checkout if you are buying clearance stock.

The part that actually matters is who is standing behind either promise, and here the two diverge for the same reason in different degrees. A warranty is only as good as the entity honouring it. Emma has withdrawn from the US market and now trades through Canada, so a US claim in year six is a question mark rather than a process. Casper is still a live company with a live warranty team — but the Original Hybrid itself is discontinued, so a successful claim has no current-production unit to exchange into, and Casper's own upgrade path routes owners to the Dream Hybrid instead. Neither of these is a clean ten-year promise. Casper's is the less compromised one.
