Form factor — ring vs watch in bed
Winner: Oura RingThis is the whole comparison in one line: the Oura Ring 4 is a 10/10 for comfort in our scoring, the Venu 3 an 8/10. A titanium band on your finger has nothing to press against a pillow, nothing to catch a duvet, and no bezel warming against your wrist on a hot night. Garmin's own spec sheet lists a 1.2-inch always-on AMOLED — great in daylight, one more thing strapped to you at 2am. Garmin's published cons include "chunky for small wrists at night."
The trade runs the other way in daylight. The ring has no screen at all, so every number lives in the phone app — Oura's own con list names this. The Venu 3 shows your sleep score, Body Battery and notifications on your wrist before you've found your phone.
There's also a durability angle buyers underrate. Oura's deal-breaker list warns off contact sports and heavy lifting, because rings catch and scuff; Garmin has no such problem. If you lift, climb, or work with your hands, the ring is the fragile choice even though it's the comfortable one.
